Happy Birthday Taurus

Sunday's eclipse of the Moon falls in your 7th solar house, suggesting that a relationship is being transformed, recreated or reborn — or that it will go away entirely. The choice may or may not be yours. Certainly, many processes are in motion, and if you look, you will see that you have far more choice in most matters than you may be willing to admit. That, perhaps, is the whole message.

What is your property entirely is the way you choose to relate to the experience of relating. And whatever happens with other people in your life, or with a certain other person; whatever way that particular relationship goes; what is brewing in the cauldron is how you relate to others. How also includes a lot about why. You are in a time when it should be beautifully transparent just what your motives in relationships really are.

Consider that the Moon is exalted in Taurus. The symbol for Taurus is a circle with the crescent Moon over it. So the Moon is your symbol, and in a sense, the representative of your physical and emotional body. Now place this idea in your opposite sign, Scorpio — the sign where anything and everything transforms; where nothing stays the same for long.

The Moon often represents the past. It can represent the leftover emotions, needs and desires of childhood; it can represent patterns of our old relationships with caregivers. And it can say a lot about how we take these patterns into our adult lives and need others to fulfill them. With the Moon going out in your opposite sign, it's as if your relationships, and more to the point, your tendencies of relationship, are being purged of the past patters that held you back to times and places that are long gone. And at that point, your psyche is like a new sheet of photographic paper, ready to be imprinted with a new pattern, image or form.

In psychological language, the message is clear: the time has come to relate to people like you're an adult. Imagine that the Moon going out is like a veil being lifted. When that happens, what can you see behind it? When you cleanse the mirror of your relationships and look directly into it, who are you, really? Who do you need to be? Who do you want to be? Who do you really want to be in your life?

Happy Birthday, Taurus!

There comes a point in everyone's career when they can no longer do it alone. You
are at that point, but you may not know it. The truth is that extremely few people who accomplish anything noteworthy with their lives, or anything that impacts others in a positive way, does it alone. You are particularly well suited to aspire to your highest goals with the assistance of others, but to a great extent have also been cutting your teeth independently. I think that the developments of this year will teach you to be more open to the influences of others.

Happy Birthday, Taurus

With an eclipse of the Moon your opposite sign Scorpio just a week behind you, this year points to some important theme of what you are leaving behind in your relationship tendencies. That is the general idea; how you apply it is up to you, and there are quite a few possibilities. And it would be difficult to overstate the case of just how good your life can become, if you keep your focus on this moment now, who you are now, and what you want now.

Let's make no mistake about one thing. Most of what we call relating in this world involves the past. Old dramas are lived out again and again; new people are treated as if they were old ones; the voices of past partners, parents and other influential people can infiltrate our entire experience of the present, and all the people in it.

But more to the point, we often try (because we were taught) to relate to people in the present as if we were the person we were in the past.

Therefore, there are few more encouraging heavenly signs than those which give us permission to let it all go — or which suggest strongly that the process is well under way. The eclipse behind you means that something significant, a change or reorientation of some kind, is in fact behind you, that is, in the past. That the eclipse occurred in Scorpio means it's about your relationships; and that it involves the Moon (one of your most important planetary rulers) means that some aspect of yourself is what, specifically, has changed. Not the relationship. Not the other person. You. You are what has gone through a shift from which you simply — thankfully — cannot return.

I suggest, then, that you set your eyes on the present — not the past. Not the past. Now. That means the people around you now, and those you are now encountering; the new places you are going; and the new things you are doing. It means new habits and most vitally, a new relationship to who you are, and how that person relates to others. The Moon is the planet that deals with patterns. Whatever you have been through represents the end of specific patterns that you may have carried since childhood.

Because growth is rarely automatic, you may be called upon to consciously, personally uphold these changes. It is too easy to revert to past patterns, particularly for a personality type as solid and as strong as you. Taurus is arguably in the top two most traditional signs (Capricorn being the other, in different ways).

In essence, you are being called upon to divest yourself of something, someone or certain situations. Divestiture is not a partial. It means you have taken something back, and taken possession and control of it. That something is yourself, and while this process may continue for some time, now is the focal point. Now is the turning point. Feel, and you will feel what it's really like to hold yourself.

Happy Birthday, Taurus!

The New Moon in your birth sign right near your anniversary contains a reminder not to be too self-sacrificing: but rather, to give yourself in a true and honest way. Your life is about you. You are what you have, and more importantly, you are what you share.

People born under the sign Taurus are usually said to be stubbornly self-centered. But like most astrological aphorisms, this has its limits. Taurus, in a state of struggle, can move between a kind of self-possession to what I might call a moderated generosity. And under stress, anyone can completely lose their judgment and composure and thus come out of their center.

At the moment, you seem to be standing on unusually stable ground, particularly compared to what has occurred the past few years. For a complete review of recent history, you might even want to make a chronology of what has occurred since Saturn was in your sign, starting back in June 1998 through October 2001.

These years represent a near-total overhaul of your entire being; your sense of self, your sense of value, and the basic circumstances of your life, your community and your state of mind. This phase ends with the ingress of Saturn in to Leo in July, which represents a new beginning that will wrap up this phase and take you to another place entirely.

I don’t mean this figuratively; for many born under the sign Taurus, Saturn’s movement into Leo will represent a relocation, a move, or some kind of event that puts you onto your own turf and living entirely on your own terms rather than those of people who have influenced you in the past. Which is just one of many factors in your chart suggesting that you have a rapidly evolving relationship to your own history: evolving as in taking many steps beyond.

This weekend’s New Moon is a truly positive sign. The implication is that you will have yourself, so that you may give yourself. Just look around at how many people try to do one without doing the other. It’s not a pretty sight. But your position in life is so stable and so promising that you have every right to live without making such extreme compromises of your integrity.

There is only so possessive of ourselves we can be, and still have anything to share with others. There is only so much we can pour out and still have a sense of existence. You need to know what to hold onto, what to let go of, and what to share, and honor that language like it matters. It is possible to hold the perfect balance, which gives you room to make decisions.

Remember, you’re not in this alone. Having your own values system in order allows you to receive clearly when others make you an offer. And something of that sort looks like it’s in the offing. I trust that you’ll reward the exceptional generosity you're about to be offered by a close friend or associate that will likely help you make a significant breakthrough in your life.

Happy Birthday, Taurus!

You are being blessed with an ability to speak your mind, and to speak your heart. In past times it may have seemed that what you really felt and what you really needed you could not bring to your lips to express. Now, all you need to do is try. If you do, you will see what a precious gift the ability to communicate really is: to state your needs and to be able to discern whether others are willing, able or conscious enough to respond.

As one born under the sign Taurus, you have access to a natural intelligence that, for the most part, you may have ignored or downplayed at many times in your life. Now is the time to indulge your own self-knowledge, and not merely to know, but to apply to your life and to the world you live in. This knowledge is based on an awareness you have in your body, not just your ideas or what you have read. There is a relationship among all these things, but in our world what we think of as our minds does most of the thinking and leaves the rest of us in the dust.

Listen to what your senses tell you, because they are talking. Listen to what your desire tells you, because it's really talking. You and in fact everyone born under the sign Taurus are in a big moment where your hopes and dreams (11th house theme) are seemingly radical, extraordinary, unusual, or revolutionary. You may have what feel like some shocking ideas. That may be true today. But if you actually take the ideas you're getting, work with them and begin to apply them, in three or six months they will seem not like revolutionary concepts but like decent, practical ways of life. This is how innovation works.

Your friends play a role in this process, and it's one you need to watch and appreciate carefully. They are on the one hand indispensable in the process of inspiration and the necessary electrical zap that you need to get going. However, you also need to weigh and measure their advice twice before you just do what someone suggests. You may agree with the logic, or you may not be able to argue with it — but what you really need to do is check in with your body and see how you feel about what they are saying.

This holds true in all your relationships. You are at this point the essence of attractiveness. No matter what you may think, that is not the issue; people are noticing you big time. If there is an issue, it's your openness, which by all accounts is rather enormous — which then moves the question to fear. Can you handle being so beautiful? Can you handle people, friends, those you meet, those you work with and so on, gasping at how stunning you are, or loving your wild inspiration?

Get used to it, kid.
