Happy Birthday, Capricorn!
It must come as a great relief when the Sun enters your sign, and this year the moment arrives with what — by every indication — should be a wave of progress, particularly in your financial affairs. I see you making great strides to resolve a long-standing situation involving the relationships between who you are, what you do and the money you earn.
This has been made none too difficult by the long transit of Neptune through your 2nd solar house, Aquarius, which has gone on since 1998. This transit has served, on the one hand, to cloud your judgments about self-worth, at the same time it has bestowed a number of self-sacrificing tendencies. It will not be until Chiron arrives in Aquarius in late winter that you get a look at just what you've been through during these years, and begin a process of complete personal reassessment. Have you been too generous? Have you not asked for enough? Have you found a true balance between giving and receiving? Are you giving yourself away? Do you possess true self-respect? These are the questions that Chiron's presence will be instigating, and good questions they are.
While it may seem that you've been involved with such issues during the three years Chiron has been in your birth sign, I would propose that events and developments have been more hot than cool; more chaotic than orderly; more challenging than enlightening; and thus, the distance and objectivity required for sizing up your situation and making up your mind have not been available. But the many experiences you've collected and endured in recent years will offer you information and evidence of what you need, and of what you need to do in the future.
It's particularly important that you have genuinely clear ideas about the meaning of self-interest and the meaning of group interest (be it of family or other situations) because opportunities for partnership are likely to be presented to you. In any partnership, it's vitally necessary to know and understand everyone's motives, particularly your own. If you have struggled with fear of commitment, you will have more than enough opportunities presented by the transit of your ruling planet Saturn through your 8th solar house, Leo, to face up to those insecurities. People will be insisting on clear arrangements, and you will know at the depths of your being that the only real relationship is a solid one based on an honest understanding of everyone's intentions.
Therefore, this is the time to be exceptionally honest with yourself about what drives you forward, and to stand in that honesty all the time. You will get no points with anyone for concealing what you want, what you need, and what you really have to offer. Likewise, hiding your weaknesses and fears will, as well, only serve to set you back, in a time when you are poised to make great progress and lay solid foundations for the future.
None of this is news to you, and I suspect you've been brewing such concerns for quite a while. Now, they finally come into focus. Conditions that have been building for a long time often take a while to work out, even as aspects of our lives improve. Change of any kind opens the door to a touch of chaos that must be negotiated carefully. No matter how good things may get in the coming months, make sure you take nothing for granted. Save for rainy days, and continue to hold people and their concerns as equal to your own whenever possible. You will only know that you're truly abundant by what you have to share.
Dec. 31, 2004 Happy Birthday, Capricorn!
As winter's child, you are one of the most soulful and inwardly seeking people in the zodiac family. Thus, the gains, accomplishments and potentials you desire in the world are going to be born from one factor only: your ability to open up to them inside yourself. It has been said many times that anything is possible; but so many people accomplish so little of what they know is their true potential.
Yes, anything is possible, but only if you embrace that you, personally, can you be or become anyone you need to be. To say any "thing" is possible is really a mistake, because life and its events are not things, they are experiences, expressions and visions made real.
Recently, a deadlock of stand-off of some kind was broken. What seemed to be a problem without a solution, or a situation without a purpose, suddenly budged, and your personal landscape changed as a result. It became obvious that you were not in the weak position that you thought you were, but rather were holding together the center of the situation. Apart from the great relief you gained, what lessons have you learned about how to handle people you perceive as powerful? I hope, to stand in your truth and in nothing else.
In the course of the next year, Saturn, your ruling planet, will change signs to Leo. This will take some pressure off of your intimate relationships, and leave you wondering what is really left. You will see, I think, that quite a bit is left. It is all a matter of negotiating your dealings and affairs with people in a way that fully recognizes your inner worth. While the pressures may have seemed to be external, I assure you that the most pressing of them has been your at times extremely soggy sense of who you are, or why people need you in their lives.
When the light dawns on this aspect of your being, I have a feeling you'll be shocked at what you were missing; at how what you thought were your worst failings were your greatest successes; and at how what you were sure were liabilities turned out to be assets. And it is only when you can see yourself for who you are that you will be able to encounter others in relationships as a whole, free and loving person.

Happy Birthday, Capricorn!
You can finally afford to put your fears behind you. There are no problems without solutions, and everything in this world is subject to the conscious intentions you bring to the many situations of your life. Only one thing is required, which is that you believe in yourself. One gets good at this by daily practice.
With practice, everything becomes an opportunity to either withdraw faith in yourself, or to invest that faith. But we rarely see the choice for what it is, and it's clear that the world offers us many opportunities to judge it as an unfair place. Those who have found themselves in a world of honesty, truth and equanimity have often arrived there through various acts of will, commitment and devotion. If the stars have one message for you this year, it is simply that love begets love. And one other: love is not a notion, it is an experience.
At the moment, you have plenty of wind in your sails and more than a few rock-solid accomplishments behind you. You have faced some of your worst fears in actual, real-life situations, and you're still walking, living, learning and loving. Any doubt or negative feeling you have about yourself can be transcended, as long as you become conscious of these things; if you have an enemy, it is that sleepy quality most people bring to their lives.
Your thoughts, feelings and energy affect others profoundly, on a scale you cannot imagine. With so much activity in Sagittarius, your inner world is amplified and, in a sense, broadcast to the outer world whether you realize it or not. Something truly beautiful is developing, though, that will give you a chance to recognize how powerful your powers of creation really are, and if you invest every possible moment looking at the loving side of life, you will see precisely that manifest within you and before your eyes.
Truly, all the evidence, the stars and the nearest Tarot deck are stacked in your favor.

Happy Birthday, Capricorn!
The world is a strange place these days, and there seems to be few reasons for hope. But nature is full of surprises. One theme of 2005 is suddenly becoming clear: that despite all odds to the contrary, the truth comes out, and it matters. You're likely to find yourself in many situations where you become the source of that truth: the provocateur, the maverick, the one who is not afraid to speak up.
But it gets much more personal than this. There is such a thing as integrity, and it's available to everyone who chooses it as a way of life — and that is a choice you seem to be making as if it really mattered. It does. In the end, it's up to each of us to feel honest within our own souls based on our actions and words — and to know this is changing the world. Nothing else can.
What did your father teach you about integrity? Your history and relationship with him become important growth points this year. I see a situation in which you may be wondering whether the minuses add up to anything that makes the advantages worth it. If so, I suggest that it would be healthier not to think in this kind of polarized way. Chiron, very active in your chart in recent seasons and through this year (as it works the last degrees of Capricorn) is about seeing things holistically, rather than in black and white.
There is also a reminder not to view your past problems as the way you define your personality. You have, in truth, so much more going for you. This week's stunning, long and languid conjunction between Mercury and Venus evokes a reminder of a time when you were simply content with yourself, which once again you have the freedom to me. The question is where you choose to invest your identity.
It would be healthy to make contact with your father, if possible. See if you can get a little philosophical perspective and use the opportunity to get an understanding of his whole life; the trajectory of his journey here; and where it has led him today. If he's not available, you can work with family history, talk to his relatives, or just consider your relationship to him. In any event, you need firm reminders that you are not him. You don't need to be; you are you and that is quite enough.
In your most personal life, there seems to be a paradox brewing between having boundaries that don't work, and responding by retreating into yourself, which leads to a sense of loneliness and isolation. I suggest you be mindful about this issue, and recognize it for the false paradox that it is. You are likely to be responding from old information and not new information. In fact, you are a sensitive, deep and emotional person, and you need both space and human contact. If you can gently recognize the potential obstacles to both of those things, you can gradually move them out of the way. |
