Dates in sun sign columns are always approximate. If you are born on the cusp. pleaase consult an astrologer or a chart service to find out your true sign, and when you do, I suggest you read what works the best anyway.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)
Consider some of the similarities between relationships and religion. I have a hunch you're already onto this theme, though not necessarily in quite these terms. Religion is a belief system grounded in tradition and based on faith. A relationship is a system of coexistence with a person who is often granted divine powers, or to whom we are bonded in a ritual that is blessed by spiritual agency, often based on personal tradition and, when it's working, is rooted in faith. Yet more often, religion and relationships are really based not on faith, but rather on hope and belief. We "believe in" people, we believe in the story of our love. And, very dependably, we believe in sacrifice -- a very religious theme. What if your religion of love shifted to one based on faith and natural processes -- like the seasons, for insance -- rather than any of this other stuff?

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)
There are two aspctes of sexuality that dominate our consciousness. One is the creative aspect, which includes lusty, daring experiments, falling in love and openly sharing passion. Then there is the secret realm of surrender, of releasing the ego to total emotional bliss, or venturing into the dark and shadowy spaces of the mind and heart in order to fulfill our deepest cravings and strange desires. Most of the time, these two aspects of sexual experience seem to be at odds. In the coming days, there is a beautifully peculiar blending of pleasure, play, surrender, passion and transformation. The inner worlds and the outer worlds become one. Do take the time to notice.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
You are the one who knows. Others may be trying to conceal their realities from you, or may be prone to doing so as a fact of who they are, but that should prove to be no problem for your discerning eyes and ears, and what are lately your highly acute psychic sences. And what you perceive is likely to surprise you, as the week or two that these aspects take shape develop. And I suggest you reveal your knowledge discerningly, because in the end, all that really matters is that you know what the deal is, and are in a good position to act on the information; indeed, it may help you make a truly creative decision which enables you to change your mind in the most positive way.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)
This week, the resounding theme is the very Cancerian aspect of life called home. We live in a transient society. Corporations are taking over our communities. Character, beauty and quality are being washed away from the world at an alarming rate as chain restaurants, stores and even laundromats seem to replace anything with any originality or personality. The whole world feels like the same place. Peoples' careers turn them into migratory birds. It is your charge to not just resist this process, but also to direcly deny, contradict and reverse it in your own life. You need a home. Make it the one you really want.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
Your solar chart says you need to write every day, or twice a day, or four times a day, but in any case, as a regular discipline imbued with a sense of dedication and importance. Writing will help you develop your mind, and the kind of development I'm seeing is an image of tending a fire, hour after hour, never allowing the flames to cease, until the fireplace itself begins to take on the energy and momentum of the burning process, almost independent of the physical burning that occurs there. It is this sense of inner energetic development and preparation that would serve you very well in the times to come.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Virgo is often characterized as being petty and technocratic, though few people are in a position to judge or assess this highly misunderstood sign of the zodiac. While the deails are more important to you than to most, there's scarcely been a time when you poured more feeling, dedication, attention and pure passion into the work that you do, motivated by such a clear view of your own values, and there has rarely been a time when you have done your work so well. It's a great combination, and you have the ability to carry this forward into something that moves Heaven, and who knows, maybe even will move Earth.

LIBRA (Sep. 23-Oct. 22)
In case you think you can actually understand the process of your life right now, I cheerfully suggest you give it up. You have more important things to think about, and you'll miss all the glory if you get too rational about what is ultimately a sequence of changes that you have no control over. This week's new moon in your own birth sign comes with a reminder to beware of tripping out on emotional highs and lows, and to remain dedicated to the task at hand. It looks to me like your focus should be fairly well grounded in practical reality, even though your heart and mind are now entering the process of a complete spiritual upheaval. You are safe; you will benefit immensely from all of this; just remember to keep doing what needs to be done.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Someone is trying to meet you right where you are. Where you are is a kind of lonely place, in terms of feeling like nobody quite believes what you believe or accepts what you accept. And you've gotten so accustomed to this way of life that you could easily fail to notice that you may actually have company. Do not be fooled by appearances. Do not be deceived by what may feel like deep differences in your approaches to life -- they are actually superficial. Someone understands you better than you think. It is up to you to make a little space and contribute to a common meeting ground.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21)
Just when you tought you'd become too weird for words, it turns out you're the flavor of the week. Our lovely culture has a way of shunning anything innovative, and then all of a sudden one day making it into Something Really Cool. It's now your turn for the ride. And you will have greater than your share of authority in the process; indeed, you will have a different kind of authority, one not just based on your typically high level of spiritual accountability, but rather on your benevolance, and on your sense of balance, and more than anything, your sense of beauty. As Philosopher Queen for the time being, Love Rules would be a perfect decree.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You have been living the contradiction of standing up for what you really believe without knowing quite what it is. But you know that somewhere inside you really do know, and not only is that working well enough, it's allowing you to do something very cosmic: cultivate your sense of the invisible. You are getting the chance to match up the realities that exist on all the different levels of your being, and to do so in a very intuitive way. Soon enough it will become abundantly clear what you really believe and what that means in terms of a new level of action, but you will be pleasantly surprised to know you were right all along.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
Slowly you are coming around to what feels like your change of mind, but what you are really doing is changing your feelings. For you the difference is subtle, and it may be confusing. Of all the signs, Aquarius is making the most difficult adaptations at the moment, but they are very necessary; they are deeply-rooted; and they are changes that may serve to save, prolong or at the very least make you notice your life in vital ways. You cannot be alive without feeling, and you cannot know what feeling is until you get it on a level it seems has been unusual or unlikely for you to tune into in the past. But the time has come.

PISCES (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
No doubt you are in a tight spot, though not as tight as you think. The source of the pressure is very slippey, and the results are difficult to notice -- except that you feel something may be strange, or like an influence is coming from a different dimension. There is a sense of being compelled to decide, to change or to act, and yet decisions, options and actions are hardly clear. So you are going to need to be very clear. You are going to need to work your mind, search your options, and more than anything, give your intuition and emotional body sufficient time and space to process reality so that you can actually come up with some usable information. The reality of this moment will be obvious in the future; it can be clear now.

For the Faithful
Marshall McLuhan, the great philosopher of media, noted two things I would like to pass along this week. The first is that the media environment is invisible. We live in a world in which we are programmed by all kinds of influences that are there but which we do not notice, cannot see, or refuse to perceive. He also pointed out that first we invent the media, then it invents us. We literally become products of our own (invisible) messages (or "memes," repeatedly stated ideas). And at the moment those messages are ugly, shallow and based on greed and illusions of abundance. I offer a toast to the Libra New Moon: To texture, to feeling, and to the mystery of love and heart-felt devotion.
