ARIES (March 21-April 19)
In our culture, we have a strange relationship with death, and this one relationship mediates every other relationship we have. How we feel about death is how we feel about life. In astrology, it happens that the house of death is also the house of money, sex, personal power (usually that of other people), marriage, jealousy and control -- the doosies. With Mars moving through Scorpio, your 8th solar house, you'll surely be sorting out these aspects of life in deep ways. But if I may offer a little clue for your journey: What these themes all have in common is *surrender*. This is something at which most of us are rather inept, but at which you must now become quite adept.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)
You may find yourself surrounded by, or in contact with, so many different people with so many different gifts, talents, agendas and worldly powers, that you may be feeling quite daunted. But I urge you to try not to feel small or insignificant, or to be too hard on yourself because it seems like the models of what people are supposed to be are so different from what you are. The deeper essence of your being is far stronger and influential in this universe than what others look like, or what others think.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
The best thing about being a Gemini is that you have the power to change. In this world, that often translates to the power to change your mind. Notice how many people seem cemented into their lives, nailed to their jobs and grafted at the hip to people who drive them insane. And notice how often this is is purely the result of the inability to make decisions. Yet this is clearly not your fate. Now is your season for rethinking, for reconnecting to your passions, and for making up your mind in new ways that add up to a much better life.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)
The adjustments you are in the process are making, brilliant as they are, are just the appetizer to what's approaching in the next weeks. More than any other idea, experience or expression of life, I suggest you learn to love the process of *becoming*, because we do well what we enjoy, and you now need to do this very well. It's so very necessary that you consciously decide that this particular time in your life really is a point of origin for you, from which so much else, more than you can now imagine, will follow.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
In the unlikely chance that you have not been made hip to the fact that a total solar eclipse is about to happen in your birth sign Aug. 11th, you are now informed. Total solar eclipse, you say? A new life, I say. An opening in reality as wide as the doors of an aircraft hangar. A grand, awesome, moment of truth. In reality, a moment you've been waiting for all your life. What could you possibly do to prepare for such an opportunity? Pay attention, for one thing. Leave all possibilities open, for another. Fear no man, for a third. Finally, practice reciting the mantra that you'd do well master in five years of solid work with one of the world's finest therapists: "This is my life."

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Virgo is considered one of the most important astrological concepts relating to the mind. But what is the real energy working in the background of a healthy and creative mind? To me, the answer is obviously fire. It is passion. We know little of this property of life these days. We are, most of us, too bored, and/or caught up in the idea of gain to be able to surrender to the brilliant freedom that comes with giving ourselves to the experience of ecstatic creativity. Well, maybe it's always been this way. But it does not need to be this way for you. Especially not now. You know what you want to do; why not do it?

LIBRA (Sep. 23-Oct. 22)
What do you have to share? One of the great ironies of this life is that we've created a world in which it seems we have to be famous in order to share our personal gifts with the culture. Yet in order to get famous, most people find it necessary to squander their talents and joys on whatever the market will support, rather than on what the guidance of their hearts tells them is good and true. To whatever extent you require a "reputation" to share the personal resources you know this world really needs, you have already earned it. All you need is the faith not to allow fear and insecurity to become your personal gods. Love is more fun, anyway.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Much of what we witness and experience on the planet involves an what seems like an interplay between the forces of dark and light. The dark force is sometimes viewed as evil, but more often it manifests as ignorance, unconscious anger, or as materialism for its own good -- that is, greed. But I propose that in your life, something very different is in process, and I suggest that you look around and see it. What you are looking for are bridges, of all kinds; bridges that join places, ideas, people, and long spans of time. Look out at what seems like an impossible-to-cross chasm, and watch the bridges appear before your eyes.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21)
As a Sagittarian, I want to remind you the extent to which the idea of sex is profoundly connected to the idea of nurturing. It's as though your sexual instincts come from the deepest levels of your motivation to care for others, and to a lesser extent, to be cared for by others. But in these days when so much is reversing itself in the world, I suggest that you open up to nurturing and gifts from others. Ask for what you need, and moreover, ask for it from the people you are reasonably sure are capable and willing to provide it. And most important, receive.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You are in the process of getting some planetary shock treatment, and honey, the Good Lord knows you need it. So turn up the juice. If you can let go, even for a moment, of all the images you have of yourself, of your ideas of right and wrong, of propriety, of the scourge of correctness, you will find this process much easier. Look around and everywhere you will see mirrors of what you are. Not what you envy. Not what you wish you could someday be, or fear that you will never be, but of the actual stuff of which you're made. Remember that in this life, we learn by example, especially how to be original.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
This is one of those weeks when I really have to ask you what's happening in your life rather than telling you much of anything. So please let me know <eric@PlanetWaves.net>. I can, however, say this. If you cling to what you believed yesterday, you will find that life is difficult, and conversely, if you are finding that life is difficult, it's very likely because you are clutching old ideas. Somewhere it was written in stone that in order to have integrity, we have to think the same thing all our lives. But to paraphrase Gandhi, it's more important to be real than it is to be consistent.

PISCES (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
I haven't mentioned my new fish tank yet. I got it over the winter, and I can't even put into words how much fun it is to live and work with a bunch of my little cousins. One challenge I had was keeping the water temperature stable in the winter, and cool in the summer. As it turned out, the thermometer was inaccurate, which served to complicate matters, but I suspected it all along. Now, one of my fish is named Rocco. He's a rosy barb, and he has a black dot near his butt. When something is wrong, his spot vanishes, and it turns out that this was more reliable than the thermometer. All fish people (Pisces and others) need to learn from this lesson. How you feel is more important than what the instruments say. And if your feelings are saying pay attention, stay focussed and wait for more data, Rocco and I would agree, you're right on cue.

For the Faithful
Mercury retrograde (July 12-Aug 5) is one of those astrological phenomena that has grown into a kind of cultural mania with the increasing popularity of astrology. I've been carefully observing these interludes for five years, and I can offer this advice, and remember, the days on (and right around) the stations are the weirdest. One, back up your important data now. Not tomorrow, today, *and don't do it while you're talking on the telephone.* Two, don't waste money. Collect all the money you can. Three, enjoy the wild, creative and intense head-trip that you and the rest of us will be on. In other words, have fun, and have it your own way.
